Community Agreements and Guidelines

All members of The Potting Shed event community (TPS), us, you and others, agree to uphold these principles.

  • I will conduct myself in a respectful and conscientious manner.

  • I will respect the rights and dignity of all teachers and members of the MMT Cohort, regardless of race, colour, national origin/ancestry, sex, gender, sexual orientation, gender identity, gender expression, age, religion, physical or mental ability, medical conditions, military/veteran status, or marital status.

  • I will respect the privacy of all members and teachers and treat any personal information (including contact information) with strict confidentiality.

  • I will not record or photograph any part of the online event.

  • I commit to authentic, respectful, and mindful communication with fellow participants and teachers.

  • I commit to conducting myself in a manner that encourages open communication and does not interfere with others’ ability to participate meaningfully.

Group Session Conduct

What is appropriate group conduct when interacting with teachers and other members of TPS community?

  • Sharing from your own experience.

  • Asking questions of your teacher and group, related to your personal practice or surrounding life circumstances.

  • Expressing support and compassion for what other group members have shared (this can also be done non-verbally, through gestures such as 'hand on heart').

What is not appropriate group conduct when interacting with teachers and other members of TPS community?

  • Disrespectful, unkind, inflammatory or hostile communication of any kind.

  • Selling or promoting products or services.

  • Giving advice to others (instead, you can reflect from your own similar experiences).

Group Messaging

Group messaging posts such as comments that do not align with these guidelines are subject to removal. Repeated misuse of group messaging may also lead to removal from the event.

Live Session Guidelines

In order to create a more focused, positive experience for all group members during the training sessions, we ask you to do the following:

  • Please arrive at sessions a few minutes early and settle in so that sessions can begin promptly.

  • If possible, please use a larger device (computer, laptop, or tablet) instead of a smartphone so that your screen is large enough to display all of your fellow cohort members.

  • Please have your video turned on during the session, and try to stay in one place. You teacher will be supporting your practice and safeguarding you as far as it possible via online participation. If you do need to move around, then please turn off your camera while doing so.

  • Please consider choosing "Hide Self View" in Zoom (click the three dots on your picture and select "Hide Self View"). This mimics real life and helps create more natural interactions.

  • Please don’t multitask while attending the online sessions. Attend fully as you would if in person.

  • Please be mindful of allowing ample space for other group members to contribute in each session during the Q & A / discussion. If you tend to speak often, consider sharing more concisely. If you tend to speak less, consider sharing more freely.

Boundaries - Trauma and Mental Illness

TPS events are therapeutic and not intended to be A Therapy. The Potting shed event is not a place to unpack or process trauma, nor is it an appropriate place to cope with unregulated mental illness. That said, with outside support from a therapist or other helping professional,   our TPS event experience can sometimes be a good place to discuss how your practice can support you with these challenges.

We reserve the right to redirect people elsewhere when we believe participation in the TPS event may be harmful to yourself or to other participants of our community event.

Liability

By applying for an Event, you assume responsibility for ensuring You are physically and psychologically fit to participate in the Event. The Potting Shed team are fully qualified, insured and registered to teach in their chosen profession, and are trauma sensitive practitioners.

Data Protection

Any personal information You supply to Us will be processed in accordance with Our Privacy Policy, a copy of which can be found on Our website.   We will only use Your information in line with all applicable laws concerning the protection of information including the Data protection Act 2018.
